County
If you love entertaining, you’ll want to find the right Charlotte
County, FL, home for large get-togethers. Luckily, it’s easier to find one that
meets your needs by focusing on the appropriate points. Here’s how to do it.
Find the Right Mortgage
Unless you’re planning to buy a home with cash,
you’ll want to find the right mortgage before you begin touring homes and
extending offers. That way, you can decide what you can afford and find the
best loan for your financial situation. Along with reviewing the requirements
for each loan type – including conventional, FHA, and VA – check current mortgage
interest rates. That way, you can see which one is the best
deal.
Go With Open Floor Plans
When it comes to entertaining in your home, having an open floor plan can
be a boon. Guests will be able to navigate the main living areas with greater
ease as they’re all combined in a single space. Plus, this can promote more
mingling since everyone remains within eyeshot during most of the party.
Just make sure you take a close look at the overall layout before you
make any offers. Consider how furniture would sit in the space and whether it
would impede the overall flow.
Ideally, you’ll be able to bring in enough seating and surfaces without
disrupting walkways. If that looks like it could be an issue, you may want to
focus on other properties.
Take a Close Look at Kitchens and Baths
In most cases, the kitchen and bathrooms are crucial points to
consider when buying any home. However, if you want to entertain, you need to
look at them in a different light.
For example, having a kitchen island or peninsula might not be a nicety;
it could be a necessity. With those, you get more counter space. Plus, you can
tuck stools under a bar-height countertop to add seating without cluttering
walkways.
Additionally, you’ll want to make sure that there is at least a powder room near the main living
areas, ensuring your guests don’t have to search for a bathroom. Ideally, you
may want to focus on homes with two bathrooms near the entertaining spaces,
ensuring those visiting don’t have to wait for long if they need the
facilities.
Have Room for Guest-Oriented Storage
Generally speaking, guests have some belongings they may need to set
down when they arrive. Coats and purses are prime examples, though you may also
have to deal with umbrellas, winter boots, and other items.
An ample hall tree or closet near your main entrance is an excellent way to address
guest storage needs. If they’ll arrive through a side door or garage instead of
the front door, then a mudroom is a similarly suitable
solution. Just make sure to add hooks, hangers, shelving, cubbies, or other
organizational systems to those spaces. That way, guests can easily set down
their belongings and find them quickly when it is time to leave.
Don’t Overlook Parking
With large gatherings usually comes a lot of vehicles that need to
park nearby. If you don’t want to frustrate the neighbors on your Charlotte County
street or have to ask guests to walk long distances to your house, then you
need to look at parking when you explore homes.
Focus on properties with ample room for vehicles, such as a house with
a long, wide driveway. That way, there’s more room for guests’ cars without
having to take over all of the on-street parking, and you don’t have to worry
about accidentally blocking neighbors in or out.
